Live Wedding Portraiture
Weddings don't really pause. Everything keeps moving. Light shifts. Hands move. People come and go.
Somewhere in that, I work.
I join your formal session and begin composing a portrait in layered charcoal. The base is built early, before the reception, then it continues quietly while the day unfolds.
Guests stop and watch for a moment. Then they move on. The drawing keeps developing. A moment that would have slipped past starts to take shape.
This isn't a quick sketch. It's a finished piece, made within the pace and atmosphere of your day.
Zani is Perth's only live wedding artist working in this layered charcoal technique, a medium of quiet precision, not the paint and canvas you might expect from live wedding art. Each portrait is a finished fine art piece, composed in real time within the atmosphere of your day, at roughly A1 scale (59.4 x 84.1cm) on archival Arches paper.

How It Works
Each portrait is created during the reception, reaching around 80%-90% completion on site, with final refinements completed in the studio.
As the piece develops, guests are naturally drawn in.
Zani's work sits between fine art and lived experience. It is not designed as a novelty, but as a considered artwork, a lasting fine art piece born from a single day.
The final moment, when the piece is revealed, is often an emotional one.
About Zani
Ever After Art Co. is led by Perth-based artist Zani Inder, Western Australia's only live wedding artist working in this layered charcoal technique. Zani brings over a decade of professional portraiture practice to every ceremony, working exclusively in charcoal to capture the day as it unfolds, live, in real time, in front of your guests, not from a photograph afterwards.
Her work has extended beyond weddings into published illustration, including the 2023 book Song of Songs by Sue Baker House. Her style draws on the anatomical precision of da Vinci, the dramatic contrast of Fuseli, and the emotional intensity of Michelangelo, translated into a technique that is unmistakably her own: high-contrast realism loosened by expressive, gestural mark-making.

What People Are Saying
"Guests were constantly watching the progress, taking photos and videos of how beautiful the process and final drawing was... It worked seamlessly without interrupting conversations, speeches, or formalities, and added a touch of class, wonder, creativity, and grace to the day. A very special experience to witness, and a beautiful memory for the couple to keep forever."
- Kirby, Wedding Coordinator, Barefoot Beach Weddings
"We're absolutely in love with the art, and every time we see it pop up on Instagram we fall in love even more. We're currently organising our fireplace area, and once it's done we know exactly where the painting is going."
- Emily van Rooyen

New! Live Event Watercolour Paintings
People come and go. A conversation pauses. Someone sits for a moment, then watches themselves begin to take shape.
Zani's live watercolour experience brings a quieter kind of interaction to your event, creating individual portraits as the celebration unfolds. Each piece is painted live, capturing the small details, expressions and personality of the person in front of her. Guests can stop, watch the process, and leave with something made especially for them. It's part artwork, part experience, and a small keepsake from a day that might otherwise pass too quickly.
